Three on Thursday

1. Went to Zac Brown Band at Red Rocks on Sunday night... what an amazing show. I still don't know the name of the little blues band that opened, but they were equally amazing. We arrived early afternoon and tailgated in the 3rd row of the parking lot for a few hours. You might call it tailgating, but given that I forgot the grill, it was more like a little parking lot party :)

2. Having worked almost the entire weekend, I decided to take Tuesday off work as a comp day to finish some last minute details for the cruise. I spent nearly 4 hours at the gorgeous enormous Cherry Creek Mall, and officially decided that I might be addicted to shoes after oggling a pair of $700 Jimmy Choo's. But I got ahold of my roots and found this amazing pair of sparklies to go with my new dress at a bargain clearance price of only $17.02 (including tax!!). I love Macy's.

3. The cruise officially begins in 3 days... Hurricane Lisa officially started brewing in the western Carribean today. The weather forecast is as follows ( I used fun bubbly icons to keep my spirits up that even T-storms and rain can be fun - so long as I have enough Bonine).

Monday - at sea: Tampa weather 89 deg Scattered T-storms
Tuesday - Grand Cayman: 87 deg T-storms
Wednesday - Cozumel: 83 deg Isolated T-storms
Thursday - Isla Roatan, Honduras: 88 deg Showers Friday - Belize: 87 deg Showers
Sat - at sea: Tampa weather 88 deg partly cloudy

Yup, thats right, the weather starts getting really nice, the day we get back to Tampa and fly home... hahaha.. oh well.. at least it's a break from work.

Three on Thursday

1. Big shopping weekend last weekend. I drug Sam out to Macy's one-day sale, mostly with the hopes of buying a new matress set. The one we sleep on is at least 10 years old, and likely older than that - since I've had it for at least 8 years. My very very tolerant man agreed to humor me and let me also shop for some work clothes. Two separate Macy's trips later we are the proud owners of a new Simmon's Beautyrest Linden Plush Top. And for the extra $20 they will gladly take away our old taco shell bed - no fingers lifted. The only negative, since the mattress is made fresh to order (no heating lamps), it won't be ready & delivered until next Friday - the day before we leave for the cruise. Our house/dog sitter will get to enjoy it more than we will :)

2. What better time to splurge on fashion than a vacation - especially for someone who rarely spends time or money on fashion. A few outfits for the cruise... A new dress from the Macy's trip, it's an unusual off brown color which is making shoe shopping nearly impossible, 8 days left to find a solution. Sam really likes the dress because it gives me imaginary hips, it's a cheap cotton and so probably won't last very long, but it's sure fun for now. Also, I finally get to wear the two bathing suits that I spent a fortune on for the cruise back in March, but never had the pleasure of wearing. A Walgreen's trip and $5 later, I now have a perfectly matched toenail polish for my white sandy beach attire.
3. I thought 3 on Thursdays would be more realistic than my last attempts. But I've come to find that this was either a very boring week, or three may still be more than I can handle; and let's not even touch on the Thursday really means Friday part :) Here's to a more exciting post next week; or an update on the weather.

Three on Thursday - a bit belated

A tad belated... but better late than never.

1. Sam didn't play polo last night, consequently my good excuse for the late post. We shopped for Oil Change supplies for this weekend, made Mac & Cheese and went to bed at a reasonable hour. "We might hit Bed Bath & Beyond, but I don't know if we'll have enough time"... hahaha. Yeah, we're domesticated.

2. We didn't end up planting a tree last weekend, instead we worked on the bottom half of the false creek bed. The weather is about to turn soon, and we didn't want to deal with the mud again this winter, so this seemed a bigger priority. The picture doesn't do it justice, I think it came out excellent and looks so natural. If the weather holds, this weekend will be staining the fence and deck, if it doesn't hold, it will probably be spent getting ready to plant that final tree.
3. We bought a soloflex from craigslist for $40. I know it's cliche, but Sam and I have both vowed to use it. I wanted it for the cruise in a few weeks to get the rear end in order. The only downfall is that it ocassionally squeaks (imagine metal on metal) and Hallie thinks the darn thing is eating me. She stands at the bottom of the machine while I'm laying face down and barks at it. too cute.

Three on Thursday

1. Three on Thursday, not as ambitious or lofty as the previous Five on Fridays or Ten on Tuesdays, but possibly more consistently attainable. Sam plays polo on most Thursdays leaving me home alone in search of something to do - why not blog in an acheivable way :)

2. I'm currently researching and pursuing an MBA degree. Today I met with the Program Director for the Executive MBA program through the CU system. He has me fully convinced that the Executive program is far more suited for what I hope to gain than a traditional MBA program. Unfortunately, the university knows that this is an excellent program and as such they charge half over again in the tuition. The program is 21 months long (18 months of classes with a 3 month summer break between years), and requires one full day in a classroom per week on alternating Friday and Saturdays. I'm stoked.

3. It's a 3day weekend, bring it on! Sam and I are likely going to work on the ever leaking water feature, and possibly plant one final tree in the yard this weekend. The town of Erie has a tree program that distributes a 50% off voucher (up to $125) on an approved tree. Conveniently, the local tree farm that we love just started their year end 50% off sale as well. Looks like we'll be getting a mature maple of some type at a 75% discount!!

John Mayer at Red Rocks

As if Red Rocks wasn't one of the most spectacular venues on this green earth, John Mayer is probably in the top 10 of my favorite musical artists. Imgainge then, how very floaty I felt last night on a gorgeous 70 degree, clear skied, amplified music with my honey at my side.
